More Falkland veterans have committed suicide than were killed in the conflict
More people died making the monument to the great fire of London than people that died in the actual fire itself

Electronic music bod Brian Eno wrote the apparently now "iconic" music to Microsoft's Windows 95 startup.
He said that he received a brief from Microsoft with “about 150 adjectives” to describe the desired noise. “The piece of music should be inspirational, sexy, driving, provocative, nostalgic, sentimental…and not more than 3.8 seconds long." He was paid $35,000
He wrote it on a Mac. “I’ve never used a PC in my life," he later admitted. "I don’t like them.”

There used to only be ten months of the year until Roman astronomers discovered twelve lunar cycles in a year and not the originally calculated ten.
So two months were added July after Julius Caesar and August after his successor Augustus. Both months were given 31 days, more than the previous ten, to signify their importance to commemorate Caesar and Augustus.
I roll that boring shit out at most dinner parties. Riveting.

The depopulation due to Ghenghis Khan supposedly led to forests spreading into farmland that was no longer cultivated, thus locking up carbon in trees and reducing the level of CO2 in the atmosphere.
I suspect any effect would've been extremely marginal.

Been reading about that a bit recently. It's fucking mental how much influence the Mongols had on the world in so many different ways.
There's a theory that the amount of people they killed actually changed the planet's climate somehow.
